Sub Component – 1.1: Strengthening Institutions to Improve Learning Outcomes and Employability of Graduates

General Objective: To achieve calibrated improvement in quality of technical education at UG and PG levels by building on existing strengths and exploiting the emerging opportunities.

A. Students and Faculty
1. Motivating and mentoring academically weak students
2. Providing financial assistance to enable PG students to complete studies on time
3. Enhancing the employability skills of students
4. Maximizing the number of campus placements
5. Increasing the number of teachers of high caliber
6. Helping teachers to improve their qualifications
7. Increasing the technical knowledge base and improving the pedagogical skills of teachers

B. Teaching-Learning Process
1. Enhancing hands-on experience of students
2. Maximizing usage of audio-visual equipment in classroom teaching
3. Increasing availability of on-line learning resources
4. Improving the performance of students in University exams
5. Improving the efficacy of Students’ Feedback System
6. Enhancing the Entrepreneurship skills of students

C. Research and Development
1. Training teachers in research methodologies
2. Maximizing the enrolment of PhD students
3. Significantly increasing sponsored research
4. Encouraging teachers to publish their research work in peer – reviewed journals
5. Pursuing collaborative research with premier institutions in India and abroad
6. Increasing networking with other institutions and industries
